Maqai Eco Resort is located on breathtakingly beautiful Qamea Island just north of the garden island of Taveuni. The moment your feet hit the sand you will fall in love with this dreamy island getaway and never want to leave.
The resort lies on a stunning stretch of private white sandy beach set against a backdrop of lush tropical rainforest on Qamea Islands uninhabited southern shores. Its here you’ll find a destination for adventure, culture, nature and getting off the beaten track.

ACTIVITIES
Spend your days snorkelling in the spectacular coral gardens a stone’s throw away from the front of the resort, scuba diving, surfing,, fishing, kayaking and swimming in the crystal clear Pacific waters. Take a cultural visit to the local village, try your hand at traditional Fijian arts and crafts, enjoy a game of volleyball or table tennis or simply explore the local surrounds hiking the island’s stunning trails. Treat yourself to a pamper session with a luxurious massage or simply relax in a perfectly positioned hammock.
SURFING
Maqai Eco Resort is situated in a prime location to a surf break affectionately known as “Maqai”. Just 1000 metres offshore you can’t stay any closer to the action! Maqai reef offers a wave park for intermediate to advanced surfers. There is also a playful learner wave out front of the resort for those keen to learn to surf. Surf season is October to April.

ACCOMMODATION

Nine beachfront bures are scattered along the beachfront with spectacular views of the ocean and just a few steps to the waters edge.

DINING
Sit back, relax and unwind-there’s no cooking to do here! A delicious meal plan is part of your stay. You’ll enjoy a range of fresh vegetables picked from the organic garden, sun-kissed tropical fruits, daily baked homemade breads, wood fired pizza, freshly caught fish, and Fijian delicacies including lovo and kokoda. Most dietary requirements can be catered for including gluten free and vegetarian. Simply advise at the time of your booking. Meal plans are mandatory if staying at Maqai Eco Resort.

Maqai Eco Resort's Cancellation Policy

• You may cancel your booking at anytime before 5pm, 30 days prior to arrival.
• If you cancel your booking after the specified period, or if you fail to show up, Maqai Eco Resort will charge you one night's accommodation for each room that you have booked and your deposit will not be refunded.

Not1Night’s Policy of Cancellations and Changes

• Not1Night will charge an administration fee of $10.00 AUD for online cancellations and $15.00 AUD for cancellations or changes made by phone or email.

To secure your booking, we require a 10% deposit of the total accommodation cost. This will be deducted from your credit card at the time of the booking.

No roads - no cars!

The Maqai Beach experience can be action packed or totally relaxed. There is an abundance of adventures and activities for the active and many private hideaways to enjoy paradise peacefully.
Relax!
Swing in a hammock, dip in the ocean, sunbath on the white sand, pick flowers and fruit from the garden, sip on a fresh green coconut, drink some kava or just make yourself at home.
Surfing
There are a variety of reef breaks accessible from Maqai offering uncrowded waves!
At 800 meters from the beach there is a great right and left hand reef set up. The right hander is the most commonly surfed and provides punchy fun waves. And when the swell gets bigger the left hander comes into its own providing heavy fiji barrels. Maqai resort offers boats to access these reefs everyday. Maqai also offers a Surf School and board hire for all types of surfing.
Diving
Dive the spectacular reefs of Qamea and Taveuni with our local friends - Taveuni Ocean Sports courses and trips are taken at Maqai Beach. Advance booking available.
Fishing
Professional charter trips available. Advance booking advised. Guests can also go fishing and crabbing with the village fishermen/women. Trawl, spear, or drop line.
Snorkeling
Everyone is blown away buy the snorkeling! Snorkel straight off the beach or take a boat to some of our secret spots on the outer reef.
Hiking
Qamea Island is covered with breathtaking rainforest and white sand beaches. There are no roads so the locals have made many rough tracks to connect their villages.
Adventure Trips
Boats are available for trips to remote paradise islands, villages, waterfalls and a natural water slide! All the wonderful Eco-attractions of Taveuni Island are on offer too.
Water Sports
Kayak, scurf, and swim off the beach or watch the action from your front deck.
Island Sport
The locals love sports. Join in the games of volleyball, table tennis, badminton.
