ce you are settled in your bungalow, follow a path to the beach where you will find the water temperature usually quite warm, some say it's due to the underground volcanic hot springs. After the beach trip, check out the local villages or the treehouse located about 15 minutes walk away.
Sunrise Bungalows are 100% locally owned and operated. Located in Turtle bay, Manuapen, on the South East of the Island of Tanna, the Bungalows are situated on top of a tree lined cliff overlooking the South Pacific Ocean, close to the friendly active mountain, Yasur Volcano.
There are several different styles of bungalows to choose from, each catering to singles, couples or families with shared "western style" facilities. There are 3 toilets and 3 showers with cold water only, shared amongst 5 bungalows. The bungalows are built entirely from local wood and bamboo and are perched in a tree line and open grassland bluff with magnificent views of the South Pacific Ocean. The villas include linen, pillows, towels, power point (electricity is by generator), mobile phone reception is available (need to contact local company to get connected) arm chairs, wardrobe, tea and coffee provided.
Sunrise Bungalows provides FREE TROPICAL BREAKFAST DAILY! Transfers to and from the airport are available at extra cost. There is a generator on the property which provides lighting at night and there is fresh spring water on tap.
The Sunrise Bungalows are locally owned and operated so the revenue from the business are circulated back through the local community, providing employment to local people through the running of the accommodation and as ground clearers and brick makers. Although facilities are somewhat basic, the bungalows are environmentally friendly and made from natural materials such as palm fronds and Pandanus leaves, Natangora and bamboo. Sand from the beaches is mixed with natural well water to make cement.
Sunrise Bungalows provides a host of tours and activities to choose from on Tanna Island. Whether you are here for the volcano or looking for a relaxing snorkel (best to bring your own equipment when travelling in the islands), or swimming in Port Resolution Bay, chilling out in the hot spring water mixing in with the ocean, touring Kastom Villages, or Fekar Waterfall or just unwinding.
