Gloucester is a vibrant, large country town in a picturesque river valley at the junction of the Avon, Gloucester and Barrington Rivers, under a range of impressive monolithic hills called The Bucketts. Gloucester is located in the North Hunter Region and 310 kilometres north-east of Sydney.
The Shire encompasses a total land area of about 2,900 square kilometres, of which a large proportion is National Park and State Forest. Most of the rural area is used for timber-getting, grazing, dairy farming and with several boutique farms producing herbs, award-winning goat's cheeses and olive oils.
Gloucester also has a variety of accommodation to suit all travellers to the region.
